School Board Elections

School Board Election - Nov. 7, 2017

The terms of four school board members—Tom Bennett, Jim Sorum, Ric Oliva, and Dawn Steigauf—will expire at the end of 2017. Therefore, an election to fill the expiring seats will held on General Election day, Nov. 7, 2017. There is no primary election for Bloomington School Board elections.

Filings open on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, and close on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at 5 p.m. Filings will be accepted at the Educational Services Center, 1350 W. 106th St., Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (until 5 p.m. Aug. 15). The filing fee is $2.

Qualifications for Voting and Assuming Office

Pursuant to the Federal and Minnesota constitutions, persons must be 18 years of age or older to vote; 21 years of age or older to assume public office. To qualify to vote or assume office a person must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Minnesota for 20 days preceding the election and a resident of the school district. In addition, to assume public office, a person must be a resident of the district for 30 days. Preregistration is not required.
