Program Information and Timeline

Summer school is part of a system of supports to ensure all students are successful on their pathways to graduation, providing learning opportunities that actively engage students while extending learning beyond the traditional school year. Students are deeply immersed in thematic units which do not focus on remediation, but rather on enriching experiences that students are able to draw on as new learning occurs in the next school year.

Bloomington Public Schools students are eligible to attend at the recommendation of their teachers. Teachers look at each student's progress in literacy and mathematics and refer students who meet criteria. All summer school referrals go through classroom teachers.

Families of students who have been referred to summer school will receive a letter and a registration form at school conferences. Registration forms must be returned by April 6, 2017. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.

Confirmation letters and bussing information will be mailed to families by the end of May 2017.
