Summer School

Credit Recovery at Kennedy High School

Bloomington students (grades 9-11) who have been referred by their school counselor have the opportunity to recover credits they have lost during the school year. Summer school credit recovery classes are located at Kennedy High School. Students who are class of 2015-2018 take summer classes at Choice Alternative

  • Summer Calendar and more information will be attached soon.
  • A referral from a Bloomington high school counselor is required. Students must be enrolled at Kennedy or Jefferson high school to attend summer school.
  • Due to state guidelines, daily attendance is mandatory. The summer school attendance policy will be strictly enforced. Appointments/vacation time must be scheduled outside of summer school hours. Students who miss any time from class will be dropped from summer school and will not be able to earn credit. 
  • Breakfast and lunch provided. (Limited access due to construction)
  • Invite letters/registration will be sent to students at the end of May.
  • Students will be required to turn in a CLP/registration form to Beacon in order to attend.
  • Bus transportation provided to Bloomington residents who are on a bus route during the school year.

2018 Ninth Grade Summer Academy at Kennedy
July- TBD,  Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Ninth Grade Academy is available to incoming ninth grade students who are referred by their middle school counselor. The academy is geared toward students who are at-risk and need to improve academic skills. Teachers at the academy will preteach 9th grade curriculum in the areas of English, math and social studies. The academy will also focus on exploring high school opportunities and resources. 

A referral from a Bloomington middle school counselor is required. Students must be enrolled in a Bloomington Public School.

  • Daily attendance is required.
  • Breakfast and lunch are provided. (Limited)
  • Invite letters/registration will be sent to students at the beginning of June.
  • Students will be required to turn in CLP/registration form to Beacon.
  • Bus transportation is provided to Bloomington residents who are on a school bus route during the school year.

2018 JAG Summer Academy at Jefferson
July TBD,  Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. - Noon
